We were born bare. No knowledge of economics and currency. No sense of romance, no sense of loss and heart break. We were born with no pressure to aspire to be someone or something. We were born with no materialistic needs and all we needed was air, food and water.
Perhaps we simply exist until we no longer do, and everything else was just the most elaborate, the most convincing lie we had ever told ourselves.

Received a call from Filip at Godwin Charli today. Custom shirt and altered pant arrived today!. Cannot see the detail here but we added a breast pocket and converted to French cuff. Matching jacket hanging pretty in my wardrobe. Was gifted with cuff links. This is making the rounds again and it is making me miss my frosty blonde hair. Going back to the above hair before leaving for HK in a month.
Black [& White]
On this re-visit: There are a lot of blacks/shadows in the outfit it put me off a bit. And I thought at first that the shadow casting over Matt’s face just did not look right. But again, I could not help but notice this time that the light was just perfect. There is a softness in the light that gently fills the background and invites us in to get acquainted with the model whose eyes are somewhat inviting you to come and take a closer look. Wow. #DEEPBRO
On this re-visit: I chose to edit a shot that I initially thought was silly the moment I reviewed everything I took that day. I just thought that the tilted camera made the image look a bit cheesy - how? Don’t ask. I can’t even explain it.
What I decided to do however was get over the angle at which I took it and decided to appreciate that the lighting and focus was just perfect in this shot. It was as noiseless as was appropriate for it. Furthermore, Matt became quite comfortable by this stage. It became easier to direct him with less coaching on his mannerisms and his facial expressions.
I quite enjoy how the shadows and light fall over the right parts of the image and how the cracks in the floorboards are so defined, adding more lines in the image to balance out the strong stripes in the jacket.
I also focused a bit on reducing that noise (although I initially did appreciate it existing).
I cannot wait for my next shoot approaching soon. I’ll have more to share with all of you and hopefully be able to help a talented young designer by providing him with quality images that support his vision and goes well with mine.
The most beautiful balance happens when natural light meets artificial light and they play together.
Chefs who are boys who have tattoos who happen to be super cute.
Like I’ve said previously, I often re-visit shots and re-edit or edit shots I hadn’t considered worthy of editing last time I did. I focused a lot on natural lighting in this shoot. I wanted it to remain organic and to show off Matt’s natural charm.
I did no touch-ups to his face in the above photos. I kind of feel bad that I didn’t have to do much post-work…Then again, that’s probably the kind of result you’d want. Less work, less sitting there trying to tinker with sliders in photoshop and what not.
What a pleasure it is to photograph beautiful people. I love photography because I’m quite a visual and physical person; I can’t actually communicate without waving my hands and arms around. Furthermore, I could sit and stare at things (and at length!) that are visually appealing to me for several minutes…Or an hour like I did with a Dali painting the second last time I visited Perth (I was breathless and rendered still).
Anyhow, as a bit of an update, I have a shoot coming up on the 23rd March. Location is yet undecided. I have two assistants ready to go. The talented young designer has sorted out MUA and model. Here’s to another fashion/model shoot under my belt. Fingers are crossed it’ll be a good one!.
Anybody who knows the stretch that is Chapel Street from Windsor to Prahran to South Yarra will be familiar with how eclectic and “second hand” it is from in Windsor to how hustle and bustle (full of shopping too) it is throughout Prahran and then finally how classy and reserved (yet stylish) it is at the South Yarra end. Past South Yarra, it turns into Church Street and crosses of Bridge Road (Richmond) - A tip, it is one of several discount streets for shopping in this fine city.
Pictured above are in Prahran. Melbourne needs to do nothing to be this interesting in endless areas.
A piece of my personal life:
This is Gloria Estefan. I had always wanted a grey cat. My wishes came true. He (yes he - long story) is very, very special.
A piece of my personal life:
Our cat doesn’t like cuddles or pats all that much. But she loves kisses. She actually asks for them. It is one of the cutest things ever.
